P.E Reflection

Blind Throw

Today for P.E I played a game called the blind throw. There was a chair turned the other way so you cant see. There are three hola-hoops there is a red, green and yellow you get three bean bags and you have to try and get the bean bags in the hola-hoops if you get a bean bag in the red hola-hoop then you get 6 points, if you get a bean bag in the green hola-hoop you get 9 points and if you get it in the yellow hola-hoop then you get 13 points. Pinenga and I VS Ruby and jaedyon. Ruby and jaedyon won. The score was 9-0. Thats my P.E reflection. The next day I was in a team with Ayden and Me vs Noah and someone else I forgot his name. That is my P.E refletion.

Calendar Art

IMG_0779.JPG
This term we did our calendar art. It was really fun. Here is some information about my koru art.

  • The purple koru on the right is my mum. It is her favourite colour.
  • The green koru is my step dad.
  • The dark blue koru on the left is my dad.
  • The orange koru on the top right corner is my sister Astella.
  • The light pink koru upside down on the green koru is my sister Mishaya.
  • The yellow koru is my sister Elodie.
  • The red koru is my sister Violet.
  • The light blue koru is me(Paige)
  • All the other little koru on the bottom are my cousins Dani, Jamie, Tara, Ella, Sam, Emily and Lucas.
Something that I found challenging was colouring with pastel because it kept smudging.
I am proud of  the designs around the koru because I didn't mess it up.

1. What is the history of Nz olympic uniforms?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        london, 1908 the new zealanders did not wear the silver fern because it was not just a new zealand team. The team was made up of australians and Nzers. Then was called Australasia. Back then we wore something that represents NZ and australia.

Antwerp 1920, this is the first Nz Olympic team which was chaperoned by Violet Walronds dad, Plus the uniforms were home made.
2. Where do the ideas for a NZ olympic uniforms come from?
Shane Hansen says “Well the initial reaction from the athletes is that they were quite stoked with having something that was a bit more modern than usual.  Something that feels comfortable to wear fit properly and wasn't too shoe w-pony-ish you know they wanted something that was a little bit more subtle.” The ideas also came from Nz olympians events and how comfortable it has to be for each athlete and their event.
3. What is the current nz olympic uniform?
This is the current NZ olympic uniform designed by Shane Hansen.

After researching about the olympic uniforms we started to make the uniform. Here are the Instructions on how to make an olympic uniform.
Instructions of how to make a olympic NZ singlet!
What you need:
Needles, Black and white thread and fabric,a singlet pattern, pins and possibly a  sewing machine
Method:
  1. First you get fabric and trace around a singlet pattern onto the fabric and cut it out.
  2. Next you stitch/sew the sides together and sew up the arms
  3. Then you decorate it with Olympic rings and silver ferns
  4. You can then Try it on
  5. After that just fix anything up that might have broken and make sure that it won't break when you put it on
  6. Finally you're Finished
Who did you design it for?  The NZ Olympians
Why did you design it? We designed it because we wanted to make something for the olympians to wear.
What did you need to think about when making it? We needed to think about the comfort each olympian needed and make sure it was appropriate for their event.

Reflection
Maddy-I enjoyed making the singlet with my buddy I had fun stitching it up the singlet together. the hard thing was trying to find the right fabric to make the singlet  with. The learning muscle that I used was Revising and the learning muscle I think that my buddy used was noticing.
Paige- I enjoyed stitching the singlet together and stitching on the decorations. One thing that was hard was after we had make the singlet we tried it on and it broke. The learning muscle I think me and maddy used perseverance and managing distractions. I really liked doing this project.

My Report Reflection for Mid Year

Report Reflection for Mid Year

How have the learning muscles helped you with your learning in Maths and/or Literacy and in one other learning area for example Matariki, P.E, Art or Camp?

Maths & Art

I use my resourceful muscle in maths to help other people to learn new strategies from me, I can also learn just as much from them. In maths we are learning about area and volume. We are making boxes to measure the volume and the area.  In Art we made a koru design with other patterns first we had to draw it then we had to paint in the design. Next we had get some chork pastel and go over the colours that we thought needed more detail.

Explanation of How a Vehicle Works

How a Vehicle Works

Key words of what a car usually has:
  • Windows
  • Steering wheel
  • Bumper
  • Boot
  • Motor
  • Doors
  • Wheels
  • Seats
  • Spare wheel

Explanation - How a vehicle works…

A Vehicle is transportation.
Transportation is something that gets you where you want to go.

A vehicle has a motor and wheels. A motor is something that runs on gas that powers a vehicle. Wheels help a vehicle get wherever the driver wants to go. A vehicle has wheels so it can move. The Wheels on a car spin all the time unless it is in Park gear which means it has stopped and parked and that leads me to my next Paragraph.

All vehicles have gears. There are are 5-6 gears on a vehicle. There is park gear, drive gear, reverse gear, gear 1 which is the 2 wheels at the back only moving and then gear 2 which is when all the wheels are moving the back ones and the front ones.

A vehicle transports people to school, work, supermarket and places like that everyday. A vehicle has two or more wheels and sometimes has a spare wheel but of course a steering wheel.

All vehicles are different in all kinds of ways, some are big like a truck some are small like a two seater mini some have six wheels some have 2. A vehicle helps you get around.

That is how a vehicle works.

Lost Story

Lost in the SuperMarket

Oh No!!! Where did my family go? They have gone. I only go to get a loaf of bread come back and they have vanished into thin air. What should I do, I start to panic like a pig, I rush into every aisle trying to find them. Oh golly gosh where did they go.

A tear drops from my eye, i'm so scared. That tear turns into a cry. Someone asks me if i'm alright I say i'm fine why did I do that I should've said I was lost oh well guess i'll have to keep looking.

I seriously can't find my family i'm going crazy like a mad man, well a mad lady.

YAY!!! I scream throughout the supermarket in excitement. There they were looking at soap yea I know soap really anyway back to the story, I sprint towards Mum and the rest of the family I squeeze Mum like a stress ball. I'm so happy I found them, hope I don't get lost again.

A Moment In Time

A Moment in time by Paige H

‘SPLASH!!’ as I flew down the slide with Jamie and Dannii. Jamie was in the front, I was in the middle and Dannii was behind me. Jamie was being silly and he did a pose as if he was meditating. Dannii looked at him and laughed and did it as well.

I fell over and ended up backwards on my back. When we got to a certain part of the slide there was a big curve and it pushed Jamie, Dannii and I up the side of the slide. “WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!” I yelled with laughter.

When we got to the end of the slide we wanted to do it again so we did, this time Jaden joined in so Jamie, Jaden, Dannii and I all ran up the stairs.

This time the boys were at the back trying to walk down the slide me and Dannii just slid down on our bums, then all of a sudden ‘CRASH!!’ As Caitlin Jaden and Jamie crashed into me and Dannii.

Finally we got to the end of the slide everybody was relieved. LUNCH TIME!! Mrs Lowe yelled. We all ran over to get lunch.

What a day Fun day that was.
I hope we get to go again sometime.

Summarising - Polar Bears

Summarising - Polar Bears: Surviving in the Arctic Paired/Small group Writing

The main idea of this text is to tell you how polar bears make a den to survive in the arctic

One example of a supporting detail is snow builds up against cie and makes a snowdrift. Polar bears use their large powerful claws to dig a tunnel into the ice.

Another supporting detail is the den is usually about 2 meters long and big enough for one or two polar bears

Finally it is clear that the main idea is to tell you how polar bears make a den in the arctic to survive
